I use both netscape 6 and Internet exployer 6. I cannot remain anonymous with either in chat rooms.
Depending on the technology behind the web-based chat room, A4PRoxy may or may not make you anonymous there. If the “engine” of the chat room is based on Java, A4Proxy won’t helpsince Java applets don’t respect proxy settings of your browser and can connect to the Internet directly. If the chat room doesn’t use Java, then A4Proxy will probably work fine, just like with any other website. Here’s how to test it. In your browser, disable Java and ActiveX and go to the chat room. If it works and you can chat, then it means that the chat room doesn’t use Java and you are anonymous there.

However, we have recently released another product, which may help you. It is called AntiFirewall and among other things, it provides anonymity for IRC chat rooms. Have a look at it at http://www.inetprivacy.com/antifirewall.
