Using A4Proxy with DSL/ADSL/cable/…

Usually it is not a problem to use A4Proxy with any type of Internet connection.

However, there are two things to take into account:

1. If you are using Internet Explorer, you will need to find the correct proxy settings to enter the configuration required by A4Proxy (127.0.0.1 port 80), as IE has several places to enter the proxy settings. Try entering them in each connection, including LAN Also, sometimes IE ignores the proxy settings and connects to sites directly even if everything is entered correctly. Try using a different browser like Opera or Netscape.

2. In order to check proxies for anonymity, A4Proxy requires that the computer should have a so-called public IP address (visible from the Internet). If all proxies after checking marked as non-functioning (have an X in the Bad Response column), this may be the problem. In this case, run the Compatibility Test from the Help menu in A4Proxy and analyze the results.

However, the second consideration is not really important as in the near future we are going to release a new version, which will have no special requirements and will be able to check proxies in all kinds of network configurations (the program is currently under testing). Updates will be free for all our customers so you will not have any problems using A4Proxy with cable or DSL.
